How to auto-start the IMAPP VA in Windows XP

Post by gumley »

If you are using WIndows XP as the host system for the IMAPP Virtual Appliance, the following instructions will configure the VA to start automatically when Windows starts up (following a system boot or restart, for example).

1. Configure your Windows user account for auto logon as shown here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/usin ... logon.mspx

2. Open the Startup folder by clicking on Start > All Programs, then right-click on Startup and select Open.

3. Navigate to the directory where you installed the IMAPP Virtual Appliance by clicking on Start > My Computer, then select the appropriate directory.

4. In the IMAPP VA directory, locate the file named "imapp_va VMware virtual machine configuration". It will be a small file, about 3 KB in size. Right click on this file, drag it to the Startup folder, and select Create Shortcuts Here.

Now when the system starts up and logs on to your account automatically, the IMAPP Virtual Appliance will start automatically.

Cheers,
Liam.
