Removing VIIRS M07 Data from NOAA-20 (JPSS-1) High Rate Data Direct Broadcast

Dear Colleagues,

In order to remove the effects of data dropouts in NOAA-20 direct broadcast, the transmission of NOAA-20 VIIRS M-Band 7 is scheduled to be turned off beginning on Monday, December 3. The JPSS project will conduct an analysis for about one week to determine if any additional action needs to be taken. It is likely that data dropouts will continue, however the goal is to reduce the frequency of dropouts on the NOAA-20 direct broadcast.

When this occurs, the CSPP SDR software will recreate NOAA-20 VIIRS M-Band 7 from the I-Band 2 data during the day in the same way it is currently done for S-NPP VIIRS.

NOAA will send out a notification on Monday to confirm the change to the NOAA-20 VIIRS direct broadcast change is taking place.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Best regards,

Kathy
