NOAA-20 VIIRS Lunar Calibration with Roll Maneuver Jan 17, 2019

The NOAA-20 spacecraft is scheduled to perform a roll maneuver (-5.425 deg) on January 17, 2019
for VIIRS lunar calibration with sector rotation (encoder offset).

The lunar observation will be centered at 9:58:32 UTC.

13 min. VIIRS SDR/EDR impacted period: 9:52:59 to 10:06:05 UTC (sector rotation)
12 min. N20 spacecraft pointing off-nadir: 9:53:32 to 10:05:32 UTC (roll maneuver)

9:48:32 Z – 10:10:32 Z HRD will be off, data for direct broadcast users will be unavailable

During the sector rotation:
- VIIRS onboard calibrators and Earth view sectors data acquisitions are shifted to allow the Moon image to be captured within the Earth view sector (off-nadir)
- DC Restore is turned off
- dual-gain bands gain mode is switched from Auto Gain to fixed High Gain
- Bow-tie deletion is disabled
