CSPP Software Release: Atmospheric Sounder Retrieval Quicklook Package Version 1.0

Dear Colleagues,

A new software package that creates quick look images from input direct broadcast atmospheric sounder retrieval files has been prepared for release as part of the Community Satellite Processing Package (CSPP). The package consists of CSPP Sounder QuickLook (QL) plotting scripts, which generate navigated pressure level plots of temperature and moisture, as well as Skew-T thermodynamic diagrams. These plots are generated from Level 2 retrieval product files produced by the following CSPP sounder software packages:
  • CSPP-NOAA Unique CrIS/ATMS Processing System (CSPP-NUCAPS)
    CSPP-Microwave Integrated Retrieval System (CSPP-MIRS)
CSPP Hyperspectral Retrieval (Dual Regression) HSRTV Package
    CSPP-International ATOVS Processing Package (CSPP-IAPP)

The software is Python based, and includes a self-contained Python distribution that is implemented through simple Bash shell scripts. Input and output files are included for verification of a successful installation. Retrieval plots are configurable, with many options available, including atmospheric parameter, pressure level, geographic boundaries, map projection, plot resolution and map resolution.

CSPP development is led by the Space Science and Engineering Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with funding support from the NOAA/NASA Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS).

System requirements for the CSPP Sounder QL v1.0 software are:
  • Intel or AMD CPU with 64-bit instruction support,
    1 GB RAM,
CentOS-6 64-bit Linux (or other compatible 64-bit Linux distribution),
3 GB of disk space (plus space for your own DB data and CSPP Sounder QL products).
The CSPP Sounder Quicklook v1.0 software as well as installation and execution instructions may be downloaded from the CSPP website at:

Cheers,
