MIRS.v.1.0, ATMS, RR

Post by zion0210 »

Hi colleagues,

For processing ATMS, i use MIRS.v.1.0. Within jul 2014 this package calculates field "Rainfall rate", which has nonzero value.

But from August 2014 field "Rainfall rate" for intresting me region contained null value despite the fact that RR data in http://mirs.nesdis.noaa.gov/ for ATMS had nonzero value.
Values for others fields, such as 'SurfTemp' and 'TPW', calculated with used MIRS.v.1.0, from August 2014 also had nonzero.

Do there significant differences between CSPP MIRS.v.1.0 and MIRS DAP v.9.2/v.11(http://mirs.nesdis.noaa.gov/downloaddap.php)?

Does use MIRS.v.1.0. some ancillary data, which need update?

I made and posted a license agreement required to access the MIRS DAP(http://mirs.nesdis.noaa.gov/downloaddap.php), but not received a reply.
Can anyone help with this?

Thanks!

Hello,

CSPP_MIRS_1_0 is based on MIRS v9.2 and does not require any dynamic ancillary data.

I will look into your enquiry today and get back to you.

Hi zion0210,

I am going to contact you directly by email to request some data from you so that I can reproduce what you have observed. I have contacted NOAA/STAR about your license agreement request - they have asked if you could please try resending your request. As for the data from http://mirs.nesdis.noaa.gov/, STAR say that because they are not an operational group, they make data available as a courtesy but cannot guarantee that the code used to generate them is identical to the officially distributed version (on which CSPP_MIRS is based). Nevertheless, we thank you for your forum post, and this is a good time for us to review whether recent developments at STAR need to be represented in an updated CSPP_MIRS release.

Regards,
