CSPP Geo GRB 0.4.7 patch for EXIS, SEISS and MAG products
Posted: Thu Jun 14, 2018 11:46 am
Dear Colleagues,
A software update to the GOES-16 ground system is planned for either Monday, June 18, or Tuesday, June 19, which will make format and content changes to the EXIS, SEISS and MAG products in the GRB data stream. The CSPP Geo team has developed a patch to the GRB software package that will allow continued generation of those products after the changes go live. The patch should be applied in sync with the ground system change, since the software changes are not backward compatible with the current EXIS, SEISS and MAG products. CSPP Geo users who do not use EXIS, SEISS and MAG products will not need to apply the CSPP Geo patch at all, as generation of products from other instruments will not be affected.
The patch has been developed according to the technical specifications in the GOES-R Series Product Definition and Users' Guide, and has been tested on sample data from the ground system. The software will be tested on live GRB data when the change goes into effect, and if any issues are found, a new patch will be released to users as soon as possible.
We have been informed that OSPO will send an ESPC notification as soon as the change goes live in the ground system. We will post updated information to this forum thread as it becomes available, including the status of the ground system change, CSPP Geo software test results and any new patches.
**Update instructions for users who are currently running GRB v0.4.6:**
1) Download the patch tarball.
wget ftp://ftp.ssec.wisc.edu/pub/CSPP/GEO/GR ... tch.tar.gz
2) Check that the installed software version is 0.4.6, as identified at the top of the README. If you are running another software version, you must do a fresh install, as described below.
cd $CSPP_GEO_GRB_HOME
cat README
3) Stop the ingestor (if running)
cspp-rt-grb.sh stop
4) Apply the patch
tar xf /path/to/cspp-geo-grb-0.4.7-patch.tar.gz
5) Check that the software version is now 0.4.7 in the README
cat README
6) Restart the ingestor (if desired)
cspp-rt-grb.sh start
**Install from scratch instructions for new users or users who are running older versions of GRB:**
1) Download and install GRB 0.4.6. Refer to the README in the package and the v0.4 Installation Guide for information on installing and running the software.
