CSPP Geo GRB Version 1.0.19 Software Release

Post by jbraun »

Dear Colleagues,

The DO 07.01 software update to the GOES-R ground system is planned for Tuesday, January 15. This update will result in changes to the format of the EXIS EUV products in the GOES-16 and GOES-17 GRB data streams.

The CSPP Geo team has developed an update to the GRB software package that will allow continued generation of EXIS EUV products at GRB receiving stations after DO.07.01 goes live. This update is backward-compatible with the current data stream, so it can be applied before the transition without affecting product generation. Note that CSPP Geo users who do not use EXIS EUV products will not need to apply the update at all, as generation of products from other instruments will not be affected.

The update has been developed according to the technical specifications in a draft version of the GOES-R Series Product Definition and Users' Guide (PUG), and has been tested on sample data from the ground system. The software will be tested on live GRB data during and after the transition, and if any issues are found, a new update will be released to users as soon as possible.

This update is distributed as a cumulative patch that can be applied to any previous version in the 1.0 series. Note that the ingestor must be stopped and restarted to apply the patch, since updated ingestor binary files are included.

For instructions on updating your software or installing from scratch, refer to the CSPP Geo GRB Software Users' Guide v1.0.19. The software, test dataset and documentation can be obtained from the download page on the CSPP Geo website (login required).
