CSPP Geo GRB Version 1.0.27 Software Released

Post by jbraun »

Dear Colleagues,

Version 1.0.27 of the CSPP Geo GRB software package is now available for download. The GRB software is capable of processing the GOES Rebroadcast (GRB) data stream as received from the GOES-R series of satellites, and generating products from all instruments in real-time.

This software update is released as a cumulative patch that can be applied to any installation in the 1.0 series.

The following changes are included in this version:
  • Adds a configuration file that may be used to ingest data from all planned GOES-R series satellites, in preparation for the upcoming transition to GOES-18 as the operational GOES-West satellite.
  • Correctly labels GOES-18 quicklooks.
  • Update to continue generating valid SUVI data quality flags (DQF) after the upcoming DO 11.02 update to the ground system.
  • Adds CSPP Geo specific attributes to SUVI FITS files.
For users who are receiving the GOES-West GRB data stream, it is recommended to apply the patch before GOES-18 becomes the operational GOES-West satellite, currently planned for early January, 2023. After applying the patch, a configuration change will be needed to allow processing of data received from any GOES-R Series satellite, as described in in Section 8.2.1 of the updated Software Users' Guide. GOES-West users who do not apply the patch will need to make a configuration change in sync with the transition to GOES-18 as operational GOES-West, as described in in Section 8.2.2 of the updated Software Users' Guide.

For users who are generating SUVI products, it is recommended that the patch should be applied before the DO 11.02 update goes live in the GOES-R Ground System, which could happen as soon as Nov 3, 2022. Failure to apply the patch may result in invalid SUVI DQF values after the ground system update.

For all other users, the patch may be applied at any time. The patch is backward compatible with the current GRB stream.

Notifications related to NOAA satellite operations, including ground system updates and satellite transition plans, are generally posted to the OSPO General Satellite Messages webpage.

For instructions on updating your software or installing from scratch, refer to the CSPP Geo GRB Software Users' Guide v1.0.27. The software, test dataset and documentation can be obtained from the download page on the CSPP Geo website (login required).
