color map for GLM overlays on ABI

Post by rfnoise@gmail.com »

I am using the latest releases of geo2grid as well as gridded glm. I have things working, but for some reason the color mapping for flash extent density does not match what I see posted online at the nesdis noaa site:

https://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/GOES/c ... &length=12

a crop of above -> https://www.dropbox.com/s/j7kkncm8n2gq9 ... 1.png?dl=0

Here is same from my results -> https://www.dropbox.com/s/5effc4guz129u ... 3.png?dl=0

I don't see any options in geo2grid to specify a color mapping for flash extent density.

Here is my basic flow:

cspp-geo-gglm.sh -r -o /mnt/grb_data/GLM/conus --goes-sector conus $lcfa_file
geo2grid.sh -r glm_l2 -w geotiff -p flash_extent_density --num-workers 4 -f $glmc_file

then using overlay.sh with a true_color ABI image and the resulting file from above.

thanks for any pointers

Hello Joe,

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you.

The Geo2Grid software creates GLM product images that are color enhanced. The enhancement used is Yellow->Orange->Red and does not try to copy what any other group is using. Changing that default enhancement is currently not a straightforward process. This first release of support for these GLM products is to make it easy for users to create images; other advanced features will come in future releases.

Cheers,

Kathy
