CSPP Geo Software Update Plan for GOES-19

GOES-19 is scheduled to become operational on April 4, 2025, replacing GOES-16 as the GOES-East satellite.

GOES-19 is already supported in several CSPP Geo software packages (GRB, Geo2Grid, AXI Tools). No software update will be needed for these packages in order to process GOES-19 data. However, please ensure you are running the latest version of these packages.

GOES-19 is not yet supported in the remaining CSPP Geo packages that support GOES-R series (LightningCast, AIT Framework, Gridded GLM). Updates to these packages adding GOES-19 support are currently being developed. The updates are planned for release by early March to allow time for users to install prior to the GOES-East transition.

Note that in addition to GOES-19 support, these software updates may contain bug fixes and some new functionality. However, they will be interface-compatible drop-in replacements for existing software, with no changes to system requirements.

The table below summarizes the plan for GOES-19 updates.

**Update on GOES-19 support in CSPP Geo software:**

New versions of two CSPP Geo packages have been released with added support for GOES-19:

• Gridded GLM version 1.1, released on 6 Feb 2025

• LightningCast version 1.0beta2, released on 6 Mar 2025

A new version of the AIT Framework package (v2.3) with support for GOES-19 is planned for release by 14 March, 2025. If you would like to test an early beta version of that release, please contact the CSPP Geo team at csppgeo.issues@ssec.wisc.edu.

GOES-19 is still scheduled to become operational as GOES-East on April 4.

A new version of the AIT Framework Level 2 package has been released with added support for GOES-19:

• AIT Framework version 2.3.0, released on 14 Mar 2025

GOES-19 is now fully supported in CSPP Geo software.

**Users who are currently running CSPP Geo software to process data from GOES-East are advised to update to the latest software versions before GOES-19 becomes operational as GOES-East on April 4 2025, if they have not already done so.**
