Dear Colleagues,
This message is to announce the release of the NASA International MODIS/AIRS Processing Package (IMAPP) software to create MODIS Level 2 products from input Aqua and Terra data in support of direct broadcast.
This IMAPP MODIS Level 2 V3.0 software includes these updates:
- Collect 6 Atmosphere Product Algorithms.
- NASA MODIS baselined code has been wrapped to produce atmosphere products identical in structure (including metadata) to those created at NASA, including
the MODIS Aerosol code (MOD04), which now creates both a 3km (dark target) and a 10 km (dark plus bright target) output product file.
- NASA LAADS archive, NASA Near Real-Time LANCE or Direct Broadcast Collect 6 Level 1B files can be used as input.
- A runtime option is included that will internally compress all HDF4 output product files using the hrepack utility.
- A MODIS Cloud Mask easy to read first byte HDF4 product has been added that stores original bit values as two-byte integers.
- Quick look scripts have been re-written in Python, and are integrated into the package.

Release Notes:
- The software is supported on 64-bit Linux CentOS6 or compatible systems.
- The MODIS Terra Cloud Top Properties (MOD06CT) Collect 6 software requires global Clear Sky Bias files as input dynamic ancillary data. These files are not yet available from NASA, and therefore the Terra MOD06CT software will not produce products until those files become available.
- This 64 bit IMAPP MODIS L2 package will not run as part of the 32 bit IMAPP Virtual Appliance. The IMAPP Team is working on a new 64 bit version of the IMAPP VM.
- UW Cryosphere Team MODIS polar 1km product software is still included as part of this release. The software that produces these products has not changed.
