Hello,

When processing GEOCAT HSD AHI data, I noticed that all bands shared the same resolution for L1 products and for L2 products. While native HSD AHI data contains a mix of spectral resolutions, 0.5km to 1km for visible, and 2 km for infrared. Is there any way to specify the output resolutions of GEOCAT L1 and L2 products, or is this fixed?

The output resolutions are fixed for both L1 and L2 products in CSPP Geo GEOCAT.

Hi Andrew,

The Level 2 algorithm output resolutions are generally defined by the individual science teams. Our role in CSPP Geo GEOCAT is to provide the capability for users to easily create these products. If you had questions on specific algorithms, we would suggest you contact the individual software developers directly. If you are interested in this information, please reach out to us at csppgeo.issues@ssec.wisc.edu.

As far as the Level 1 output, at the time this package was released, the version of GEOCAT we incorporated into the CSPP Geo GEOCAT software package did not support the ability to create full resolution Level 1 products. We are told by the GEOCAT developers that there now exists an option for Level 1 in newer versions. However, our current CSPP Geo funding does not allow for additional improvements/developments to the GEOCAT software package.
